Job Description
Ego Fashions (2983630 Canada Inc.), a Montréal garment importer, is seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to plan, organize, direct and evaluate the activities of its purchasing department at its Ville Saint-Laurent head office.
Terms: Term/contract, full-time, 36 months, 30 hours per week. Wage: $73.00/hour
Language of work: English or French. Frequent travel required.
Main duties:
- Plan and control the purchasing department budget and expenditures
- Plan, develop and implement purchasing policies and procedures
- Plan and organize daily operations
- Review purchase order claims and contracts for compliance with company policy
- Oversee evaluation of the cost and quality of goods and services
- Authorize development of specifications for products and services
- Manage contracts and review/process claims against suppliers
- Complete and process international purchase orders
- Establish and maintain relationships with overseas suppliers
- Organize and maintain inventory; apply quality-control procedures
- Hire, train, direct and motivate staff; supervise more than 20 people
- Oversee preparation of reports and advise senior management
Requirements:
- Master's degree
- 5 years or more of purchasing and procurement experience, including demonstrated experience in international textile/garment import procurement and managing overseas supplier relationships and international purchase orders
Assets:
- Knowledge of Bengali
- Familiarity with the business culture and trade practices of the company's South Asian sourcing markets
